Each month a Mass General-led trauma conference draws community first responders who come to learn from experts about ways to best manage trauma patients. This education is then translated into the field to help improve patients’ chance of survival before they reach the Emergency Department and SNHMC trauma team and ultimately save lives.

Each year, the ‘Best of Souhegan Valley Region Awards’ recognize local businesses and services that go above and beyond for the delivery of their product or service.  In the Souhegan Valley, winners are chosen by the readers of the Cabinet Press and their publications.

Over the years, New Hampshire has consistently ranked high in national and local polls and it’s easy to see why. As New Hampshire residents, we don’t pay sales or income tax, we have some of the best schools in the country (both K - 12 and at the collegiate/university level), and our crime rate is one of the lowest in the nation. So it comes as no surprise that Nashua has earned a top spot in WalletHub’s 2018’s Best- & Worst-Run Cities piece (emphasis on the BEST section).

Our inaugural class of medical students from the University Of New England College Of Osteopathic Medicine (UNE) is wrapping-up a successful year at SNHH. Eight medical students completed eight, six-week rotations in both inpatient and outpatient settings in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Surgery, Behavioral Health, OB and Community Service.

We are proud to offer comprehensive breast cancer care locally by Foundation Surgery’s Dr. Salewa Oseni. Dr. Oseni is a Mass General physician and one of New England’s only oncoplastic breast surgeons seeing patients here in southern NH.

Dr. Oseni shares a passion for assuring all women receive the appropriate breast cancer screenings at the appropriate time and has completed research with her Mass General colleagues that could support modified screening recommendations based on age/race.

The newly formed SolutioNHealth is a highly coordinated community-based regional healthcare network comprised of Elliot Health System and Southern New Hampshire Health, whose purpose is to better serve the healthcare needs of the region by improving and increasing access to care, enhancing quality, value and community benefit.

Our People

In late 2016, Foundation made a commitment to cultivate an environment that supports resiliency and prevents burnout for our physicians, allied health professionals and staff. We formed a Burnout Advisory Group to develop a multi-year framework for this initiative, and interviewed staff across the organization to understand concerns and generate ideas that translated into plans, programs and initiatives all focused on reducing stress and improving professional satisfaction. Initiatives included:

• Bringing in speakers and sending providers to workshops to learn about resiliency, tools for self-care and managing stress.
• Introducing pilot programs with Scribes and PA-Cs to increase professional satisfaction among our care teams.
• Additional centralized service support to our practices for prior authorizations, data entry, indexing and medical record releases.
• A new Emerging Leadership Program to support the development of providers in future leadership roles.

Thanks to the leadership of Dr. Matt Daily, patients struggling with migraine or other chronic headache disorders now have access to a clinically proven treatment for lasting pain relief.

This past June, Southern New Hampshire Health signed a Letter of Intent with Elliot Health System in Manchester, NH, to begin the process of formal, exclusive discussions to form a new regional health care system. For more than 125 years, our organization has served greater Nashua, growing and adapting to meet the changing needs of our community. Looking ahead, we are faced with a number of changes that we will be better positioned to address through close collaboration and resource coordination with a regional partner. These changes include:  (1) addressing the care needs of an aging population, (2) changes in healthcare financing, and (3) rapid technological advancements within the industry.
